📅 Analysis of June 2026 Video Game Releases
June 2026 starts fast, with a very crowded first half, then a clearer window before June 18.
Calendar Density
To maximize exposure, the best week seems to be between June 12 and June 18. The first part of the month is too crowded: it combines a major RPG port, a highly anticipated remake, and several PC indie games. The end of the month is also less favorable, with several back-to-back ports and remasters on Switch 2.
Genres and Platforms to Watch
Major releases lean towards adventure, RPG, and simulation. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Gothic 1 Remake, and The Adventures of Elliot anchor the RPG-adventure axis. Wanderstop, SpaceCraft, and Unrailed 2: Back on Track cover simulation and co-op. Ports and remasters on Switch 2 are also very present. The month is therefore more open to proposals that fall far from these genres.
The Two Biggest Releases of the Month
The two most important titles of the month are Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. The first is a major port of an already highly recognized action-RPG, releasing early on June 3 for Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. The second is the main new release of the month: an HD-2D action-RPG developed by Team Asano, the team associated with Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default, and Triangle Strategy. For any studio, these two releases are the benchmarks to consider before choosing a launch date.
