This week, three of the biggest video game conferences of the year will take place: PlayStation’s State of Play, the Summer Game Fest, created by Geoff Keighley to take over from E3, and Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase.

These events are traditionally concentrated over a few days and often set the tone for upcoming releases, featuring surprise announcements, new trailers, release dates, and playable demos. Nintendo might also host a Nintendo Direct in the coming weeks, but, as is often the case, it is likely to be announced at the last minute.

Here are the dates and times, in French time, that you shouldn’t miss to follow the main announcements of this first week of June:

  • State of Play: Tuesday, June 2 at 11 PM
  • Summer Game Fest: Friday, June 5 at 11 PM
  • Xbox Games Showcase: Sunday, June 7 at 7 PM, followed by the Gears of War: E-Day Direct

These conferences are all the more important as they can sometimes be accompanied by surprise releases. A notable example is Final Fantasy XVI, which arrived on Xbox the exact same day it was announced at the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase.

For this reason, the analysis of June’s releases will arrive next week, allowing time to process all the new information announced during these conferences.

Also worth watching: more specialized conferences

If these events interest you, keep in mind that they are just the most visible part of a much broader schedule. Alongside the major conferences, numerous smaller showcases take place, often centered around independent publishers, regional scenes, or specific genres.

Personally, I recommend rewatching the AG French Direct, which took place last week and highlighted many upcoming French-speaking indie games. A dedicated Steam page is also available, featuring demos of several games presented during the event.

Don’t hesitate to go test them and add them to your wishlist: for independent studios, it is a simple, free, and often very valuable form of support.
